Hello, long time no see.
Today we are going to talk about the wedding we planned in Fort George, Vis for Mariann and Ivan.
Mariann booked us about a year before her wedding.
She had her eyes set on Vis and Fort George from the beginning of her Croatian wedding journey.
When she visited Croatia years ago she didn’t have a clue that this is the place where she will meet the love of her life, and eventually a place where she will get married.
The wedding planning process was pretty standard. Mariann and Ivan moved from one continent to another at one point so we were on pause, but we made up for lost time quickly.
Mariann made sure to book her Fort George venue in time
This is a high demand venue so yes, it needs to be booked about year and a half, even two years in advance.
We booked the basic vendors periodically and didn’t have any issues with bookings.
When they moved the couple could rest easy that everything will go according to plan.
Regarding the budget, Mariann and Ivan had a great approach.
They spent on things that were really important, and saved on others.
The Fort George as a weding venue was an important part of their wedding vision, and so were the photos and videos.
This three parts were the focus of our wedding planning process.
Other categories weren’t as important, but the bride and groom didn’t want to go without them.
The wedding decor
With a great help from our dear florist, we managed to create a moodboard focused on greenery and candles.
This way the decor wasn’t in a high price point, but it still looked good and all the basic wedding decor was covered (such as bouquets, buttonholes, ceremony, reception etc.)
Along with flowers and candles, there were a lot of little details around the venue such as:
Welcome sign, seating chart on glass doors, name tags, photo and guest book station, a cool wooden sign in the theme of traveling.
Since the bride really cared about photography, she created a moodboard with photo ideas.
Our Photographers did their best to re-create some of the ides through the day.
Because of her ambition to have the best photos, but also collaboration from her groom and their friends, the photoshoot turned out great.
They were using locations in the town of Vis, and then of course the Fort George venue as well.
The photo moodboards and lists are a great idea.
You need to keep in mind that the photoshoots don’t interfere with the wedding day schedule, and you are willing to compromise and trust your photographers.
The Fort George venue
Fort Feorge was on my venue wish list for the longest time.
Actually it was on it since Tie the knot got founded.
And who would have known that in one booking season, we will book several weddings there.
And boy, it was even better than expected.
Visually, we knew what to expect, but the surprise for us was actually the staff.
The way everything is organized and taken cared off is amazing.
It really made our lives easier, and it allowed us to focus on our part of the job.
They are not only organized, but super fun and polite. We really loved every minute of working there.
The food was really good, it was a mix of local dishes with a modern touch.
We were able to try two different menus at two different weddings this year, and both were really really good.
The wine was a locally produced wine of great quality.
I really liked the prosecco cocktails during cocktail hour that were a perfect refreshment after a hot summer day.
The wedding day
On the wedding day we had everything scheduled and prepared.
We started the day with the girls getting ready, and the boys relaxing.
Then we did the first look between the bride and the groom.
Their wedding party joined them moments later for a group photoshoot.
Afterwards, there was a beautiful ceremony at Fort George, with a gorgeous sea view.
The bride and the groom had friends and family members singning during the ceremony, and it was a lovely personal touch.
Then there was the cocktail hour, grand entrance and dinner with speeches.
The bride and the groom opened the dance floor and the party started.
The party at this wedding was so much fun, and their crowd started dancing right away, and didn’t stop until the end.
The DJ was a young guy from Split, he was a big party of why the athmosphere was so great.
He was really enthusiastic and he knew at every moment what the crowd wants to hear.
Although it was an easy ride for the bride and groom, once the wedding approached it wasn’t as easy for Filip and I.
We planned a relaxing 5 day workation on the island of Vis, and we planned arriving on a boat that was supposed to be our accommodation as well.
Well, the weather had other plans for us, and because of strong winds our workation plans were no longer possible.
So we traveled on the day off the wedding from Šibenik to Split, from Split to Vis, and we thought we will be super tired and this is going to be the longest day ever.
By the time the party started we forgot all about our worries since we had a great time wtih this crowd.
And hey, we got a great Tik Tok video out of it
Unfortunately, the day after we needed to repeat the trip back home.
We came back two days later for another wedding, so we managed to explore the island of Vis a bit more.
More about that in another blog post.
If you like what you see add it to your Pinterest moodboard!
Special thanks to all of our vendors, we couldn’t do it without you.
